Phillip Warner


Phillip Warner was born around the year 1611 to Sir Thomas Warner and Rebecca Payne. He Married Henrietta Ashton: daughter of Henry Ashton, and had one child with her. Phillip was appointed Governor of Antigua in the year 1671. In 1675, He was sent to prison for 18 months, on account of murdering his Carib half brother, Indian Warner and also slaughtering his tribe. After being tried and acquitted in 1676, he was removed from his post as deputy Governor of Antigua. However, being admired by the Antiguans so much, they later elected him Speaker of The House of Assembly. Phillip Warner died on October 23rd, 1689.
